Choosing a roofing contractor is one of the biggest decisions a homeowner makes, yet it is often made under pressure after a storm or a leak. The way a company treats you before, during, and after the work says everything about the quality you can expect. That is why we want to tell you who we are, how we started, and what keeps us different from the many contractors competing for your business.
How The Roofer Direct Got Started
The Roofer Direct, LLC was founded in Atlanta, Georgia, which remains our national headquarters to this day. From the first job, we knew that to build a company that lasts, we would have to do things differently than our competitors.
That difference resonated with homeowners, and word spread quickly. What began as a local operation grew steadily into other states. Over time, The Roofer Direct, LLC became recognized as a national company. We now serve homeowners across many regions, including Roswell, Alpharetta, Milton, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Peachtree Corners, & Johns Creek, GA, and we continue to grow because customers value honesty and workmanship over shortcuts.
The Principles We Built Our Company On
We made firm decisions early on. Three guiding principles form the foundation of everything we do, and we return to them on every project, large or small.
- Do our best work always: We cut no corners and use the best material possible, not the least expensive option we can find.
- Stand behind our work: In the rare event that we make a mistake, we make it right no matter what it takes.
- Ask for no money upfront: No material deposits, nothing until each stage of the job is complete and you are satisfied.
That third principle sets us apart. Generally, phase one is the roof repair or installation, and we collect payment for the roof only once it is completed. Additional phases depend on the scope of the work and the agreed contract. These can include gutter installation, house siding, painting, windows, and more. This structure removes the fear behind so many stories we have heard, where a customer handed over a deposit only to never hear from the contractor again.
Certifications That Set Us Apart
To become one of the nation’s premier roofing contractors specializing in storm restoration, we pursued credentials that most companies never earn. Our leadership took and passed the rigorous exam for the ICC, the International Code Council, which is the governing body of building codes across the country. Knowing the code inside and out means every installation we perform meets the standards that protect your home for decades.
We also applied to GAF Roofing, North America’s largest and oldest roofing manufacturer, to be recognized as a Master Elite contractor. After an extensive vetting process, The Roofer Direct, LLC earned the title of GAF Master Elite. This is a title you cannot buy but must earn, and only two percent of roofing contractors in North America have achieved it.
What Our Certifications Mean for You
Being vetted by GAF changes what you receive as a homeowner. When we install qualifying GAF shingles, you get a fifty-year non-prorated warranty instead of the thirty-year prorated warranty offered when the same shingles are installed by a non-certified company. As a Master Elite contractor, we are also able to offer the GAF Silver Pledge warranty, which includes a ten-year labor warranty backed directly by GAF.
This gives you real peace of mind. If anything ever happened to our company and we were unable to fix a problem, you would contact GAF, and they would send another Master Elite contractor to make the repair. Your investment stays protected regardless of circumstances beyond anyone’s control.
Trust Backed by Experience
Today, The Roofer Direct is one of the nation’s premier storm restoration contractors. We have licensed adjusters on staff to keep the insurance companies honest and accountable, and to make sure your home is repaired like new. Dealing directly with an experienced adjuster means fewer surprises and a smoother claims process from start to finish.
We also hold an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. So whether your home is storm damaged or you simply have an old roof that needs replacing, you can be confident you are working with a roofing company you can trust. That trust, built one honest job at a time, is what drives us forward every single day.
ABOUT THE OWNER
I’m R. Scott Burnam, owner of The Roofer Direct, LLC. I started in construction while still in high school, working my way up from laborer to foreman to management, all while finishing college. Along the way, I found real satisfaction in building something well and being able to say, “I built that.” But I also saw owners low-bid jobs to win them, then tell crews to cut corners to stay profitable — that never sat right with me. So my wife Elizabeth and I started The Roofer Direct on a simple definition of integrity: doing the right thing, even when nobody’s looking. By eliminating the middleman, we’re able to use higher-quality materials and deliver higher-quality installations. We built the company on three principles: do everything to the best of our ability, cutting no corners and using the best materials, not the cheapest; stand behind our work and make it right if we ever fall short; and never ask for money upfront — no deposits, nothing until each phase is complete and you’re satisfied. Typically, phase one is the roof itself, with later phases covering things like gutters, siding, painting, or windows, depending on your project. That structure protects you from the horror stories we’ve all heard of contractors taking a deposit and disappearing.
Because of these principles, The Roofer Direct grew quickly from our roots in Atlanta, Georgia — still our national headquarters — into a recognized national company. I passed the ICC exam to be certified by the International Code Council, the governing body for building codes nationwide, and applied to GAF, North America’s largest and oldest roofing manufacturer, for Master Elite status. After an extensive vetting process, we earned that title — a distinction held by only about 2% of roofing contractors in North America, and one you can’t buy, only earn. For our customers, that means a fifty-year non-prorated shingle warranty instead of the standard thirty-year prorated one, plus the GAF Silver Pledge warranty, a 10-year labor warranty backed directly by GAF — so even if something happened to our company, GAF would send another Master Elite contractor to make it right. Today, we’re one of the nation’s premier storm restoration contractors, with licensed adjusters on staff to hold insurance companies accountable, and an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Whether you’re an existing customer or just doing your research, thank you — and if you have questions, I can be reached at 855-338-ROOF (7663).
Thanks again,
R. Scott Burnam – President
